History

2000—2008

The club was founded in 2000 as "NBA" (Russian: НБА), which means Nizhegorodian Basketball Club. The first president and head coach of the team was Alexander Khairetdinov. During his lifetime, the club changed its name several times: "NBA" (2001—2002), "NBA-Seti-NN" (2002—2004), "NBA-TELMA" (2004—2006), "NBA-Nizhny Novgorod" (2006—2009). Since 2009 it has its present name BC "Nizhny Novgorod".

In 2006, the club promoted to the Russian Super League B, the second league in Russia. In next two seasons, it finished at 5th and 6th places respectively.

Season 2008/09

In 2008, Dmitry Svatkovsky became to be the new president. The famous Russian basketball player Sergei Panov was placed as the General Manager, and Zoran Lukić from Serbia was invited as the head coach. Alexander Khairetdinov stayed at the club as the General Director. As a result the team had chances to finish the season in the first three places but due to injuries of leading players found itself at 7th place.

Season 2009/10

During off-season the club purchased several experienced players like Nikolay Sukhorukov, Dmitry Dogadin, Evgeny Chernyavsky, Aleksander Pustogvar and prospective youngsters like 2009 Universiade silver medal winner Dmitry Golovin and one of the best player of the 2008 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship Dmitry Kulagin.
